Make a Difference

What started as a small dream tucked into our backyard has grown into a little patch of purpose: kune-kune pigs grazing in the pasture, hens laying golden-yolked eggs, rabbits nesting in the quiet corners of the barn, and garden beds that feed both our family and our community. Every jar of jam, every dozen eggs, every handmade good we sell is made with care and intention and with a promise: to keep our prices fair so that wholesome, local food is accessible to everyone.Hazelbrook Homestead stands at an exciting crossroads, and we're inviting you—our cherished community—to join us on this next chapter of our journey. This fundraiser is a way for those who love what we do to help us take that next step. Today, we're excited to share three ambitious projects that will transform our homestead into an even more self-sufficient and vibrant place. From Egg to Table: Our Chicken Breeding Program, Year-Round Herbs: The Greenhouse Project, Looking to the Horizon: Sheep in Our Future. From Egg to Table: Our Chicken Breeding Program One of our most immediate goals is launching our own meat chicken breeding program in January. Rather than continuing to rely on external hatcheries, we'll be raising chicks from our own eggs—creating a truly closed-loop system that improves quality meat while reducing our carbon footprint. Things that are involve in starting this project: New meat chicken coop A rooster coop chicken incubator expanding our Meat processing equipment Year-Round Herbs: The Greenhouse Project Winter won't stop our growing season anymore! We're planning to build a greenhouse that will allow us to cultivate herbs throughout the colder months. This means fresh, local herbs for our community no matter the season, and a significant step toward year-round production. Things that are involve in starting this project: Gravel bricks greenhouse paneling water system installation Looking to the Horizon: Sheep in Our Future Looking ahead to the next five years, we're preparing to welcome a herd of sheep to Hazelbrook. The paddock planning has already begun, and we can already envision these gentle animals grazing our fields, adding to our sustainable ecosystem. Things that are involve in starting this project: opening up our land to make a field creating a sheep barn Fencing the paddocks off Saving to buying good quality ewes (sheep) Every contribution, no matter how small, truly makes a difference. You’re not just supporting a small business you’re helping a dream stay alive. contributions our never expected, but always deeply appreciated. Your generosity helps us stay true to our values — growing slowly, sustainably, and with heart. thank you for helping us grow and reach more hearts With gratitude and muddy boots, The Hazelbrook Homestead Family
